CHITTORGARH FORT The Fort of Chittor holds its distinct identity not only in Rajasthan but all over India due to the great heroes and the gathao of sacrifice associated here. Chittorgarh Fort is located in the famous Chittor of Rajasthan . The fort is built on a hill about 500 feet above the ground. It is famous from tradition that it was built by Chitrangad Mori. It was captured by Guhilvanshi Bapa in the 8th century. For some time it was also under the control of Parmaras, Solankis and Chauhans, but it remained mostly in the hands of Guhilvanshis till the merger of Udaipur state with Rajasthan around AD 1175.
